About the role
We are seeking a Senior Database Administrator with deep Progress DB expertise to lead an upgrade from an unsupported Progress DB version to the latest release and to execute a lift-and-shift migration to AWS EC2. The role centers on managing a ~2 TB dataset while preserving data integrity and minimizing downtime during cutover. You will design and implement the migration strategy, establish data synchronization between on-premises and AWS-hosted Progress DB until final cutover, and implement backup, restore, and monitoring solutions in AWS. The position requires collaboration with application teams, documentation of migration steps and risks, and providing post-migration support and performance tuning. This is a contract role, remote-based with an expectation to work with teams in India and coordinate cloud infrastructure (EC2, storage, networking) for a reliable, high-availability migration outcome.

- Practical knowledge of data synchronization techniques (replication, ETL, CDC)
- Experience in performance tuning, backup and recovery, and database monitoring
- Ability to design and execute lift-and-shift migration strategies and plan cutover with minimal downtime
- Experience documenting migration steps, risks, mitigation strategies, and providing post-migration support
